HIGH FIVE is a program from Parks and Recreation Ontario.
WOODSTOCK - HIGH FIVE has given the Friendly City accreditation for delivering exceptional recreation and sport programs for children ages 4 to 12.
HIGH FIVE is a national program put together by Parks and Recreation Ontario to support the safety, well-being, and healthy development of children in sport and recreation programs. Organizations that receive accreditation are evaluated on staff training, program creation and delivery, standard operating procedures and guidelines, and program evaluations.
Manager of Cowan Park Sportsplex, Danielle Ciccarelli says this achievement has been a long time coming.
"Accreditation has been a priority goal of the department for three years, and we have been able to achieve this through our hiring policies, training, camp and recreation programs, creating safe environments and so much more."
She adds the work never stops for the Parks and Recreation Department.
"Each season we strive to deliver high quality camps, drop-in, aquatics, sports, recreation and leadership programs that foster healthy development, lifelong skills and lasting memories for children 4 to 12 years of age."
There will be a ceremony held on Friday at Cowan Park Sportsplex from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. It is a free drop-in event open to everyone and will feature DIY crafts, turf games, adult pickleball and cookie decorating.
