A fourth quarter payment of $355,890 will go back into the Friendly City through community grants.
Since 2001 the OLG has provided the City with $17.8 million in non-tax gaming revenue. Ontario Finance Minister Charles Sousa says this money goes right back into the community.
“Revenue from OLG gaming sites provide host communities more funding to support important local infrastructure and community programs. These funds also help support other public services for people across the province like health care and education.”
The money is given through an equitable formula in the Municipality Contribution Agreement and every host municipality for the OLG receives these payments.
Over the past year the province has allocated $115 million in gaming revenue to support charities through the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
Some of the money is also used to fund the province's problem gambling program for research, treatment and prevention.
