The $415,370 cheque is for hosting Gateway Casinos.
WOODSTOCK - The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has issued a third quarter gaming revenue payment to the City of Woodstock for hosting Gateway Casinos.
The latest cheque is for $415,370, pushing the total for the current fiscal year to $1,327,743.
The city puts the money towards the Community Grants Program, which accepts applications in the spring and fall each year. The Woodstock casino first opened in June, 2001 and Oxford MPP Ernie Hardeman says the Friendly City has received grand total of $29,922,890 from the OLG since then.
"Year after year, a share of the revenue from Gateway Casinos Woodstock through OLG’s Municipality Contribution Agreement has been an important source of funding for Woodstock, helping to deliver vital services and helping to enhance the quality of life of local residents. Host communities benefit from their share of local casino revenue, while all Ontarians benefit from OLG’s gaming revenues, as 100 percent of OLG profits are reinvested in communities across the province."
The OLG has distributed close to $2.4 billion in non-tax gaming revenue to host communities across the province since 1994.
