Woodstock residents have until January 31st to fill out an online survey about the benches in Museum Square and if they would like them reinstated.
WOODSTOCK - Members of the Woodstock community can now have their say regarding the discussions surrounding the benches in Museum Square.
The previous City Council voted to remove the benches in response to reports of vandalism and drug use back in late 2021. The new City Council is now considering bringing them back after Councillor Kate Leatherbarrow brought forward a motion a couple of months ago.
Mayor Jerry Acchione says it's important that local residents have their voices heard.
“My fellow members of council and I have had discussions with a lot of people since this issue was raised in November. It’s clear there are a lot of strong opinions on this topic and we felt it was best to undertake a formal consultation process that gave people a chance to be heard.”
An online survey has been posted on the City's website and it will close on Tuesday January 31st. City staff will take a look at all of the responses and bring a report to Council during their meeting on Thursday February 16th.
