The bylaw could soon include a limit for the number of birds a resident could have.
WOODSTOCK - Requirements for backyard chicken coops could be revamped.
Staff was directed by Woodstock City Council to make updates to the bylaw regarding residents keeping fowl, pigeons, and other animals.
The current bylaw has direction, which has been taken from other municipalities, including, for location, setback, and maintenance requirements for backyard coops. City staff believe there is an opportunity to improve the current requirements, and introduce limits to the number of birds that can be kept.
The current bylaw will remain in effect until Council approves any updates.
