Toyota recalling hybrid Prius and Toyota Canada issue separate recall
Toyota issued a worldwide recall Wednesday morning.
The auto manufacturer is recalling 1.9 million hybrid Prius cars around the world due to a software glitch that could cause the vehicle to stall.
The recall includes roughly 14,000 Prius vehicles in Canada that were built between March 2009 and February of this year.
According to reports, the glitch could cause transistors to become damaged, causing warning lights to go off and driving power to be reduced or lead to the car stopping completely.
There has been no related accidents or injuries reported.
Toyota Canada has also issued a recall for 25,000 RAV4s from model year 2012, and Tacomas and Lexus RX350s from 2012 and 2013.
The recall is to repair an electronic circuit condition that could cause intermittent turn offs of the vehicle stability control, anti-lock brake, and traction control functions.
