WPL Releases Statement Ahead of Drag Storytime

"We are excited to be hosting an in-person Drag Storytime once again and expect a full house." - Woodstock Public Library CEO Lindsay Harris.

WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Public Library has released a statement ahead of today's Drag Storytime.

It's scheduled for 1:00 p.m. today as part of the library's March Break programming.

The library says Drag Storytime has been a programming staple over the years and this is the first time they have been able to have it in-person since the pandemic.

CEO Lindsay Harris says the family-friendly event celebrates inclusion, self-love, and diversity, all while supporting members of marginalized communities in Woodstock and Oxford County.

"At our core, libraries embrace the values of intellectual freedom, diversity, inclusivity, and empathy. We promote kindness, understanding, respectful dialogue, and safe and inclusive spaces for all. Drag Storytimes specifically foster empathy, a love of reading, and imaginative play."

Harris is expecting a full house for today's event.

We have heard numerous reports of a protest planned for outside the Woodstock Public Library today and a counter-protest that's also taking place.
