WPS are reminding the public about the importance of naloxone kits after responding to multiple overdoses this past weekend.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police are warning the public to be cautious after responding to several overdoses over the weekend.
WPS officers and Oxford EMS responded to multiple overdoses this weekend. Police are reminding the public that help is available to those who need it. If you use drugs or know someone who does, you can pick up a naloxone kit for free at local pharmacies and Southwestern Public Health. Naloxone administered can reverse an overdose and these kits have saved countless lives.
In case of overdose:
• Call 911
• Give naloxone if an opioid overdose is suspected (it may take more than one dose)
• Stay with and assist the person until paramedics arrive
• The person should go to the hospital with the paramedics for further treatment
Signs of an overdose include slow, weak or no breathing, drowsiness or difficulty staying awake, can't be woken up, choking, gurgling or snoring sounds, blue lips or dizziness.
