Another familiar face is moving up the ranks at the Woodstock Police Service.
WOODSTOCK - The times they are a changing at the Woodstock Police Service.
A special ceremony Monday afternoon saw not only a new Deputy Police Chief sworn in, but Paul Hess has also been named Inspector of Operations. Having difficulty containing his excitement, Hess had this to say following the ceremony. "I've been working towards this for 18 years of my career, so I'm really pleased to get this opportunity to work with Bill Renton, our Chief, and Deputy Chief Darren Sweazey. My whole career has been here for the last 18 years - I started here in 1997."
The new Inspector spoke to Heart FM about what a few of his duties will include. "It is new, so I'm learning as we go I suspect it is going to be quite a few different things. Technically I guess my role as the Inspector of Operations will include our detective office, our criminal investigations, our drug unit, the intelligence unit, and all the uniform members will report directly to me."
Newly appointed Inspector of Operations Hess says he is looking forward to the opportunity he has been waiting nearly 20 years for. "I just have more people and more responsibility reporting to me now. I will just have to take on a greater leadership role with the service."
