Receiving taxes by email is now a possibility for the Township of Norwich
NORWICH TOWNSHIP - Electronically received taxes is on the horizon for the Township of Norwich.
Mike Legge, Finance Director for the Township talks about the changes after a recent bill.
"New legislation opens it up to electronic delivery of all your tax information. So your tax bill, any other notices related to taxes we can now deliver electronically."
There are lots of benefits, but it is the environmental benefit that Mike Legge says stands out.
"There's a lot of sales points to it. First and for most I think is the green side of it where we're no longer having energy to produce a bill from printing ink, printers etc. You don't have any of that. You don't have any paper involved."
Other benefits for the township include it saving staff time, and no longer issues of it not delivering due to human error.
Tax payers are being encouraged to sign up for the new service with a draw for four $50 gift cards that can be entered by signing up before June 30th.
