The Zorra Caledonian Society will be holding a rededication ceremony for the Tug-of-War Cairn at the North Embro Cemetery this Sunday.
EMBRO - Tug-of-War has been a tradition at the Embro Highland Games for years and now their most historic team is about to be memorialized.
The Mighty Men of Zorra was a Tug-of-War team founded in 1893 and is getting etched in stone.
Most famous for winning a pull at the 1939 Chicago World's Fair, the Zorra Caledonian Society will be rededicating the Tug-of-War Cairn in honour of their achievements. It will be taking place a the North Embro Cemetery this Sunday starting at 2:00 p.m. You can visit the Oxford Historical Society website for more details.
President Geoff Innes speaks on the size of this year's Tug-of-War competition at the Embro Games this year.
"We are lucky this year that we have eight teams coming. It's going to be an international event and the teams are from BC, two from Wisconsin, Minnesota, a team from Quebec, Some local teams, Bluewater from Sarnia, Ellis township, a youth team from London and the indigenous youth team from London."
