You can support someone in Oxford County with cancer.
WOODSTOCK - Want to get a jump on your Christmas Shopping and support the Canadian Cancer Society? The 11th Annual Grand Desserts is the place for you. It's happening October 24th at 7pm at the Quality Hotel and Suites in Woodstock.
With a Mardi-Gras theme this year, the event acts as an annual fundraiser for The Canadian Cancer Society Offices, with the money raised supporting those in Oxford County living with Cancer as well as life saving Cancer research.
The silent Auction table is always a popular draw. This year you can find over 40 items such as Raptors tickets, quilted and gift items, Woodstock Theatre tickets, and numerous gift certificates for massages, YMCA, golfing, restaurants.
Jannis Cunningham of the Canadian Cancer Society Oxford Office says it's a fun night out for everyone.
"We are having a great evening with 9 vendors who come and they have samplings of either appetizers or desserts, chocolate, tea or coffee."
Sweet or savoury, there will be a bit of everything to sample at the event. There are some new vendors this year, including Sweet N Delicious, Habitual Chocolates, and Quality Hotel and Suites. Returning vendors include Chef Jed Lau and Paulette Kydd, Quinton’s Catering, Sally Creek Golf Course & Bistro, Personal Service Coffee, Dairy Capital Cheese Shoppe, and Foodland.
Some highlights of the night include a demonstration by Hilda Bickerton, a mini fashion show by Roberts & Co. Ladies Wear, and inspirations from cancer survivor Michelle Bisaillon.
