Police arrested 78 people and saved 18 women during a massive investigation into the sex trade.
A major investigation into human trafficking has saved 18 women involved in the sex trade.
Multiple police detachments joined forces for Project Equinox. The London Police spearheaded the effort while partnering with Woodstock Police, Stratford Police, and Strathroy-Caradoc Police. Several community service organizations also assisted in the effort by providing information about potential human trafficking locations and victims.
Over the course of 6 months 78 people were arrested, 129 criminal charges were laid, 24 drug related charges were laid, 35 people were charged after answering escort ads or obtaining sexual services, $8,070 worth of controlled substances were seized, and 4 weapons were taken.
The 18 women removed from the sex trade industry were between the ages of 15 - 55.
