WOODSTOCK - The leaves are changing and so are the exhibits at the Woodstock Art Gallery.
The first floor will showcase work by Woodstock's very own Florence Carlyle. Director Curator Mary Reid is very glad they are able to showcase some of Carlyle's artwork, which dates back to the First World War.
"We've been very fortunate that we've been able to loan a portrait from the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa which is quite a coup for us. We're a Class A facility and so we're able to borrow works from all across this country and internationally if we so choose. "
The second floor will feature a group expedition of print work by 19 leading contemporary artists in Canada. Paintings by Stu Oxley will also be on display, alongside a community project provided by the Suicide Prevention Oxford Leadership Coalition. That artwork will act as a visual representation of a recent community needs assessment.
Reid describes the other community project that will be on display on the third floor.
"What Good Beginnings has done is they put iPhones and cameras in very small children's hands. This is a showcase of photography really looking at the way children uniquely view the world and some of the results are quite surprising and pretty amazing."
The new exhibits will officially launch at 2pm this Saturday, with opening remarks and special announcements taking place at 2:30pm.
