The Retired Teachers of Oxford County District 37 invites everyone to celebrate those awesome years.
A special event will zero in on health and wellness for seniors.
The Retired Teachers of Oxford County District 37 is throwing open the doors of Maranatha Christian Reformed Church and inviting everyone in for their Wellness Day on May 3. This is the first time the Wellness Day has been opened up to the general public.
Past President Heather Wilson-Boast says they have a special guest speaker who believes in the healing power of humour.
"This year it's Doctor Ken Shonk. And if anyone has had the opportunity to hear him, he's quite amazing. His message is all about how laughter is the best medicine. He said that we could kind of call it a 'chuckle check up.'"
They also have a wide variety of workshops available.
"We have a series called Healthy Sleep Habits, IPads what you can do with those as a senior, Managing Prescriptions, Keeping your Brain Active, the Healing Power of Meditation, Healing and Grieving Heart, the Health Benefits of Line Dancing, a drumming circle, Caring for Your Feet, Making Connections: Calling 211, and learning about our Canadian history."
The fee for non-members is $30 and includes access to the keynote speaker presentation and three workshops. The day gets started at 8:30 a.m.
Registration must be completed by April 7th.
