The Woodstock Police Services Board approved the new strategic plan for 2020-2022, which is prepared by police service boards across Ontario every three years under the Ontario Police Services Act.
WOODSTOCK - The proposed Strategic Plan for 2020-2022 has been approved by the Woodstock Police Service Board.
Every three years, the Ontario Police Services Act requires police services boards in Ontario to prepare a Strategic Plan.
The Mission, Values and Declaration of Principles were reviewed and updated to make sure they reflect the organization, its role as part of the Woodstock community and the ideals the WPS strives to meet each day.
A corresponding WPS tracking process is being finished to look at detailed actions associated to each of the strategies, complete with accountabilities, deliverables and timelines.
Chief of Police, Daryl Longworth says the plan is founded on their mission and values, along with the WPS' declaration of principles.
"The Woodstock Police Service mission, values and declaration of principles are the foundation of this plan. They reflect what we do, who we are and what we strive to achieve… We rely heavily on partnerships and collaboration with all members and organizations within the community.
Longworth says now that the plan is in place, they need to successfully execute it.
"A strategic plan is only as good as the ability of an organization to successfully execute the plan."
The plan has been developed in consultation with their community and their members. Over the next three years, the plan will serve as a road map to look at the effective and efficient delivery of policing services through the strategic priorities, objectives and action plans that have been established.
It's also acknowledged that WPS cannot accomplish anything without its members and the WPS must ensure that members have the proper resources and training.
