The Ingersoll Public Library offer a viewing of the documentary Pink Ribbons Inc, in honour of breast cancer awareness month.
INGERSOLL - The latest installment of the Oxford County Library's Movies for Change Program takes on Pinkwashing
Everyone is invited to a free screening of the movie Pink Ribbons Inc. The documentary talks about the marketing strategy some corporations use to mislead customers into thinking they are supporting breast cancer awareness.
Executive Director of the Canadian Cancer Society's Oxford County Community Office, Janis Cunningham and a Graduate Chair of Women's Studies and Feminist Research at Western University, Jessica Polzer will discuss Pinkwashing more in depth.
Systems Support Librarian in Oxford County Library, Sarah McDonald shares some insight into why community events like this are important to attend.
"Oxford County Library provides space for people to learn, explore and discuss issues that are relevant to their lives. The Movies for Change series aims to provide the opportunity to watch compelling films on social issues, like Pinkwashing, and encourages patrons to join in conversation with local leaders, educators and activists after the film."
The screening will be held on Thursday November 2 at 6pm at the Ingersoll Public Library.
