WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Mayor Trevor Birtch did not attend the Special Meeting of Woodstock Council today for budget deliberations.
Acting Mayor Connie Lauder chaired the meeting. No reason was given for Birtch not to attend.
The Mayor has not publicly address his criminal charges, which include assault, sexual assault and sexual assault with choking.

Council is starting with a base budget of $64,058,890, which is a 3.35% increase from 2021 and represents a 1.61% tax change rate.
The first meeting started at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, as Council looks at Human Resources, Parks and Recreation, Arenas, Aquatics, Cowan Sportsplex, Special Events, Clerks, Fire, Administration Services, Marketing/Communications, CAO and Planning today.
The next meeting is on Thursday where council will debate the Committees of Council: Heritage Advisory, Museum, Economic Development, Small Business Centre, Doctor Recruitment, Information Technology, Engineering/Building/Bylaw & Parking/Transit/Para-Transit, Public Works/Waste/Sewer/Water, Mayor and Council, Final Budget Matters.
Another budget deliberation is set for March 3rd where council will go over the budgets for the Police Board, Library Board and Art Gallery.
