It's Alzheimer's Awareness Month and the Alzheimer Society of Oxford is still offering services online and over the phone during the lockdown.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Alzheimer Society of Oxford is still offering support services during the lockdown.
Executive Director Shelley Green says most of them are available online.
"We're doing social recreation, we're doing our volunteer companion program now virtually, and we're doing support groups and education programs. The world has really moved to a virtual world and our organization, thanks to our wonderful team, has done the same."
She says the virtual format has worked well for some people but not for others, so they're offering services over the phone as well.
January is Alzheimer's Awareness Month and the local society usually hosts it's Walk for Alzheimer's around this time of the year.
But Green says it has been postponed to the last Saturday in May and it's all going to be held online.
"For people who have walked in the past thank you so much for that support. We certainly hope you will join us this year with our virtual walk and we will be sending out information about the walk in the coming weeks ahead."
