The Duck Derby will not be in Southside Park for the festivities this year due to a lack in funding.
WOODSTOCK - The Ducky Derby is looking for a new organization who fits the bill.
Traditionally, the Ducky Derby was put on as a fundraiser for Ingamo Homes but Executive Director Diane Harris said sadly this year they cannot continue. "We just didn't have enough people power to get out there and sell the tickets. Last year it was really difficult for us to sell and it's weather dependant also because we do the majority of our sales down at Sidewalk Sale Days. If it rains we don't sell very many and then on the day of the event it was also a rainy day."
The event has been held for the last three years, and featured 4 000 rubber ducks racing through Southside Park. Selling all those tickets proved to be too much for the small staff at Ingamo, but Harris says there's still a chance to see the event return. "Well it was really, really fun and I encourage anyone - if there's another organization that wishes to take it over I would certainly give them our information and our duck suits and all of our duck paraphernalia that we've collected through the last three years for sure. So if there's anyone that really wants to take it on they can give me a call and I'd certainly love to help."
