A Woodstock man is in critical condition, and his family shaken after a violent attack Wednesday night. The wife of 46-year-old Phillip Hilliard told Heart FM that her husband was attacked by a group of teenagers, one of them she says, struck him in the head with a skateboard. "He had put spikes on that skateboard, so he could hit us with it. They came over to actually really hurt us. I got punched in the head and kicked in the face. And my husband got the bad end of the deal. He almost died on me." Hilliard is in a London Hospital suffering from a severe head injury. Cindy, fighting back tears, said they had received some good news just prior to us speaking with her. "He's doing better, thank god. He just came out of his coma, he's not all there yet. There's a lot of bleeding in the head." Cindy claims the teens came to their house to "beat up" their 12-year-old daughters, and she says its not the first run in they've had. "This has been going on for a couple of years now, we've notified the police on several occasions, and the police did not do anything about it. All they kept doing was giving the family and those kids a slap on the wrist." Woodstock Police say the assault is under investigation, and as of Thursday night, no one was in custody. Police were called to a "disturbance" at around 9PM Wednesday, which they say started on Huron St. and continued over to Sydenham. Hilliard says the neighbourhood is definitely shaken up. "Everybody on this street is scared and there's actually people that are going to be leaving here. They're scared for their life and their kids lives now."
