The Colorado Avalanche celebrated a 2-1 win over the defending champion Tampa Bay Lightning last night.
TAMPA - For the first time in over 20 years, the Colorado Avalanche have won the Stanley Cup.
They celebrated a 2-1 win over the Lightning last night. Tampa Bay won the past two Stanley Cups and Colorado won it's last NHL championship back in 2001.
The Avalanche won the 2022 championship series 4-2 in the end.
Colorado defenseman Cale Makar has been named the Stanley Cup MVP, winning this year's Conn Smythe Trophy. He is the third Avalanche player to win the award; Patrick Roy won it back in 2001 and current Avalanche GM Joe Sakic won it back in 1996.
