Provincial police are warning about puppy scams. They say fraudsters are placing ads online and in newspapers offering purebred dogs at bargain rates. Sometimes the scammer claims in the ad that they have to leave Canada to work on a church mission in Africa or South America and in order to do so they must sell their dog. Police say victims are told to wire money transfers to pay for the dogs -- and then the money is simply stolen. Remember, if it sounds too good to be true it usually is.
