The Bid for Kids Sake, Battle of the Hors D'oeuvres raised an estimated $35,000 on Friday night in Tillsonburg.
TILLSONBURG - The Bid for Kids Sake, Battle of the Hors D'oeuvres was a big success for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oxford County.
It looks like the event on Friday night in Tillsonburg raised around $35,000, however they are still doing final calculations. Resource Development Manager Liz Wismer-Van Meer says the food was absolutely amazing as well.
"The winners from the Battle of the Hors D'oeuvres this year was J.P.'s BBQ and Catering, as well as the People's Choice, which went to the Indigo Lounge. So they were really happy, everybody was excited, the food was amazing. Everyone really was a winner, when it came to the Battle of the Hors D'oeuvres, you definitely didn't walk away hungry."
She adds it was a great night, the live auction was a lot of fun it all raised money for a great cause.
"All of the money we raised supports our programs through Big Brothers Big Sisters. We do not receive ongoing Government funding, so for us to have these programs free for our families, our mentee's, we really heavily rely on events like this, so our programs will continue to benefit from the charity and the great support we receive from both the sponsors, the donors of the auction items and the guests who come out and enjoy the evening."
Big Brothers Big Sisters is going to change the event a little bit next year, hosting it in the Spring, as opposed to mid November. It will be coming back in May 2020 and they are excited to reveal a new look for the event as well, so stay tuned.
