Pittock Reservoir deemed unsafe for swimming
WOODSTOCK - The Pittock Reservoir has been deemed unsafe for swimming at this time due to a bloom of blue-green algae.
The Pittock Conservation Authority is advising residents, visitors and pets to avoid swimming or activities that involve direct contact with the water.
Toxins from blue-green algae may irritate the skin, eyes, ears and throat, and may produce hay fever-like symptoms.
Oxford County’s drinking water supply is not affected by this algae bloom as blooms are not a concern for groundwater drinking supplies.
