Big changes are coming to Brant County's waste collection.
BRANT COUNTY - Brant County residents may start to notice some changes in their waste collection in the near future.
As of November 1st the county will offer weekly recycling pick up, but they will decrease their garbage limit to four bags.
Solid Waste/Wastewater Operations Manager Matthew D’Hondt says they are hoping to divert excess waste from the dump.
“Our community is aware of the need to protect the environment and recycling has become a main practice in many households across the county. By increasing our recycling and decreasing our waste, we will extend the life of the landfill while protecting our community for future generations.”
Some residents in South West Paris, Oakland, Scotland, Burford and on Pinehurst Road may notice a change in their collection dates. D’Hondt adds those impacted will be notified.
“We are working to inform our community about the upcoming changes. A new Recycling and Waste Collection Calendar will be mailed to all residents in mid-October and notices will be posted to the Brant website.”
The county is also getting ready to implement a new Bulky Waste Pick Up Program on January 1st and a Yard Waste Program this coming May.
