The Oxford County Cancer Society hopes to see a lot of pink throughout the month of October.
OXFORD COUNTY - It's breast cancer awareness month once again and the Cancer Society are open to donations.
Breast cancer is the second most common cause of cancer related deaths in females in Canada. With this number rising in the next 10 years donations go a long way to helping stop the horrible disease. Haley Parliament, Fundraising Specialist explains how you can donate to the cause.
"We can take donations over the phone, we can also take donations in honour of cancer patients, and the gift for the cure can help fight against breast cancer."
Breast cancer is on the rise and here are some statistics backing that claim.
"The statistics we have now are that 1 in 8 Canadian women will develop breast cancer at some point in their lifetime."
October is the time to acknowledge breast cancer awareness so, the Cancer Society are encouraging that people wear pink ribbons, as it's a great way to donate and show you care.
The Oxford County cancer society will be selling pink ribbons at local grocery stores during the month of October.
