OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County tax payers can expect good news at todays County budget meeting for the New Year.
The preliminary budget is proposing a 2 percent increase to the levy collected from property owners, a collective $52.1 million for the 2015 year. According to MPAC the effect this would have on an average single family detached residential property valued at just over $230,000 will decrease by $2.77 in 2015.
Chief Administrative Officer for the County, Peter Crockett said, "Well the draft budget we have put in front of council is essentially maintaining and sustaining the services that we've got, protecting our infrastructure as we go forward, it is a 2 percent increase in our gross budget." Crockett adds, "It results in effectively a zero tax increase."
