Maple Leaf Foods has given Bullwinkle's Eatery a huge boost with a $6,000 grant to purchase a new industrial dishwasher.
WOODSTOCK - Washing dishes is about to become a whole lot easier at Bullwinkle's Eatery.
They were given a $6,000 grant from Maple Leaf Foods to purchase a commercial dishwasher, which will help the culinary program at Bullwinkle's. The grant money was facilitated through the Oxford County Community Foundation. Program Director for the Hospitality Training Centre at Bullwinkle's Vanessa Giuliano tells Heart FM the culinary program already has a few success stories.
"We have also had two that went onto employment, I mean that's it, that's what we were looking for. I've had local businesses say when are they ready, we want to come in and see how they are doing, that is exactly what we want, teach a skill go out and teach someone else and get yourself a job."
Bullwinkle's is still serving between 70 and 100 people every Tuesday and Thursday with their pay what you can model. The idea is to provide great meals to the public where they charge you on a sliding scale which starts at just $0.50 cents or you can pay the full donation of $7.00. Procurement Analyst for Maple Leaf Foods in Thamesford Jean Carson tells Heart FM why they wanted to support Bullwinkle's.
"Bullwinkle's is a really innovative idea that empowers people, not only in the training but also in offering them some nutritious food and so Maple Leaf is all about that and we were really happy to support that."
Bullwinkle's is open every Tuesday and Thursday for lunch at the Moose Family Centre in Woodstock.
