Six students were on board when a school bus hit a tree and caught fire near New Hamburg.
NEW HAMBURG - Nobody was seriously injured after a school bus hit a tree and caught fire in Perth County.
OPP and EMS rushed to the scene this morning just after 8 a.m. on Line 41 east of Road 104 near New Hamburg. The bus was carrying six high school students at the time of the crash. The investigation revealed the bus left the roadway and entered the north ditch area before hitting a small tree before coming to a sudden stop when it hit a larger tree.
The driver did receive non life threatening injuries and the students all sustained minimal to minor injuries in the crash. The students had to exit the bus quickly as the impact from the crash caused it to catch fire.
A 49 year old man from Stratford has been charged with Careless Driving.
