The CAMI Assembly team and Unifor Local 88 have raised close to $338,000 for United Way Oxford and United Way Elgin-Middlesex.
OXFORD COUNTY - The CAMI Assembly team and Unifor Local 88 came through once again for United Way Oxford and United Way Elgin-Middlesex.
They managed to raise nearly $338,000 this year, despite the pandemic. Executive Director for United Way Oxford Kelly Gilson says they were blown away by the total.
"We are incredibly grateful, because this has been a difficult year for everyone and it certainly has been a difficult year for everyone at GM Cami assembly. So the fact that they were able to dig that little bit deeper to ensure that there is help in the community for others who are less fortunate is incredibly admirable. We certainly appreciate it and we will steward those dollars to make the best impact possible across Oxford."
Gilson says the employees are able to donate the money from their pay cheques to the United Way that supports the community in which they live.
"People are able to give via payroll and give where they live and it really shows how they are valuable contribution to our community and they really know how to support and help others in need."
The money will be split between United Way Oxford and United Way Elgin-Middlesex.
