The CAMI plant will be adding the BrightDrop EV410 to it's production line in 2023.
INGERSOLL - The CAMI plant in Ingersoll is adding another electric vehicle to it's production line.
Unifor says it's going to start building the new BrightDrop EV410 in 2023. It's a mid-size delivery vehicle and the company has already lined up Verizon as it's first customer.
Plant Chair Mike Van Boekel says this is great news for CAMI.
“We know worldwide demand for front-door delivery is growing exponentially. Our members are proud to step up and build the next generation of vehicles that will help reduce carbon emissions and meet the needs of our rapidly changing economy.”
CAMI is also going to produce the BrightDrop EV600 electric van. GM announced a $1-billion investment earlier this year which will help transform the plant into Canada's first mass-market producer of electric commercial vehicles.
The Ingersoll plant has been shutdown due to a parts shortage since February, but it did have three weeks of steady production in June. You can read more about the shutdown online here.
