Canadian Bankers Association says banks across Canada will observe a moment of silence in honour of Queen Elizabeth II.
Banks in Canada will remain open on Monday.
The Canadian Bankers Association says banks across the country will observe a moment of silence in honour of Queen Elizabeth II.
"We recognize the significance of this historic moment and Canada’s banks are committed to delivering essential services as millions of Canadians rely on predictable, trustworthy banking services to be there for them, whether they’re conducting a routine transaction or making a major purchase, like a home. By keeping the banking system open, banks ensure the continuous functioning of payroll for workers, scheduled bill payments, child support, and mortgage closings."
The decision comes after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that Monday will be a holiday for federal government workers.
While several provinces are following suit, Ontario is not one of them.
The Queen's state funeral will take place on Monday.
