Marriage is on the decline in Woodstock, while the divorce rate is up. Those are some of the findings of the latest 2011 Census figures released from Statistics Canada. The snapshot of May 2011 shows 10,890 families in the Friendly city, with married couples making up 66.9% of families. That's a drop from nearly 70% in 2006. The change is similar to trends across the country that show there is no "average" Canadian family. The composition of families is growing more complex. Stepfamilies with one or more children from only on of the parents, biological or adopted, represent 8.7% of families in Woodstock. The percentage of people in Woodstock who are divorced is up to 9.5% from 8.4%. Other interesting findings: -Common law couples make up 15.3% of Woodstock families -17.8% of families are headed by a single parent -14.1% are single mothers, 3.7% are single fathers -5.9% of households have adult children aged 25 and over still living at home
