Today marks the one year anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. About 40 Stand With Ukraine rallies and vigils will be taking place across Canada.
UKRAINE - It has been one year since Russian forces invaded Ukraine.
During a video address this morning, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that February 24th, 2022 was "the longest day of our lives." He also said Ukrainians have proven themselves to be invincible over the past 12 months and vowed that Ukraine would be victorious in 2023.
The United Nations General Assembly passed a non-binding resolution yesterday, calling on Russia to end hostilities and withdraw its forces from Ukraine.
Meanwhile in Canada, the Ukrainian Canadian Congress will be hosting about 40 Stand with Ukraine rallies and candlelit vigils in major cities across the country today. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will be attending an evening vigil, but first he will be holding a press conference with Defence Minister Anita Anand in Toronto.
