A South West Oxford man is facing a long list of charges after allegedly stealing two calves.
NORWICH TOWNSHIP -- A local farmer woke up to an unusual situation Sunday morning.
Oxford OPP were called to a dairy farm on Greenly Line in Norwich Township after a farmer discovered someone had opened the gates and pens on the property allowing numerous cows to walk freely.
The farmer was able to round up the cattle but discovered two young calves were missing - two female Holsteins that were 4 and 8 days old.
After a police investigation, the two calves were eventually located on a property in Zorra Township.
Police arrested 19 year-old Nicholas Clayburn of South West Oxford on Tuesday.
Clayburn was charged with:
- Break and Enter to a place – Commit Indictable Offence
- Fraud Under $5,000
- Mischief Under $5,000
- Theft of Cattle (2 counts)
- Fraudulent Taking/Branding of Cattle (2 counts)
- Theft Under $5,000 (2 counts)
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (2 counts)
The suspect was released and will appear in court at a later date.
