One year later, we're still waiting for the answer to the question... Why did a three storey building suddenly explode, killing two people and leaving dozens homeless? The Ontario Fire Marshall's Office says the investigation is continuing. Lead Investigator Skye Lorimer told Heart FM on Monday that they are still waiting on some test results and are not able to release a cause at this time. Many believe the blast was caused by a natural gas leak that came from the laundry room, the only source of gas in the building. Rumors and questions about a possible meth clinic were floating around in the initial days after the blast, but were quickly shot down by authorities. Fire Chief Scott Tegler did not want to comment on the anniversary, but he told Heart FM a couple of months ago on the record that it isn't uncommon for these investigations to take longer than a year. "They're doing their due diligence as an organization. The OFM are very professional and they want to make sure they eliminate all potential yes, no or maybe's before they come up with a determination. For any other fire of a significant nature where we have to call the OFM in, it's not uncommon for their investigation report to take well over a year to come in."
