Local Woodstock establishment Six Thirty Nine is officially a Feast On restaurant.
WOODSTOCK- There's no doubt now that local Woodstock restaurant Six Thirty Nine is committed to using local ingredients.
In fact, it's official.
The restaurant which is going into its tenth year just recieved a Feast On certification. The certification allows it to be identified as a partner that is committed to using and providing Ontario grown and made products.
It's not just food though, local also applies to the beverage selection.
"We do a lot of Ontario VQA wines and then we work with Ontario craft breweries and offer a lot of different beers from microbreweries from across the province."
Co-owner and chef Eric Boyar is not ready to stop at the certification though.
"We want to get even more local and we want to try and eliminate more things and we fit into the percentage of buying local with the Feast On program but we still want to get a higher percentage than what we have."
Boyar adds that the choice to go local was due to demand, "There is a niche market for good local food in Oxford County and we just wanted to give people what the farmers were offering and put that on a plate."
