Four people are facing a number of charges in relation to the house fire on Alberta Ave last week.
Friday afternoon, shortly before 5:00 pm, Woodstock Fire and Police responded to reports for an alleged explosion and fire at 598 Alberta Ave, where crews battled the blaze for a number of hours. Four people were taken to hospital to be treated for burns suffered in the fire while neighbouring homes were evacuated for safety concerns. One dog perished in the blaze.
The Ontario Fire Marshal's Office was called in Saturday to determine cause of the fire.
Following a joint investigation between the OFM and Woodstock Police Criminal Intelligence/Drug Enforcement Unit, the four were arrested and charged Wednesday.
44 year-old Nicola Treszl and 26 year Harmeet Singh of Woodstock, along with 25 year-old Jamal Ahmad and 23 year-old Hassan Jouda of London were charged with production of a controlled, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, arson by negligence, arson disregard for human life, mischief endangering life and mischief interfering with the lawful use of property over $5000.
Singh, Jamal and Jouda face an additional charge of property obtained by crime while Singh faces one charge of failing to comply with a probation officer.
Jamal and Jouda will appear in court today while Singh and Treszl will be back in court March 18th.
Two of the four remain in London's Victoria Hospital listed in stable condition.
The cause of the fire has not been released by the OFM or WPS, however the investigator on scene Monday told Heart FM that natural gas and the appliances of the home had been ruled out.
