'Tis the season of food and toy drives as the Woodstock Salvation Army gets ready to send out their Christmas Hampers.
WOODSTOCK - Fundraising efforts are underway for the Woodstock Salvation Army's Christmas Hampers.
The annual campaign collects donations of cash, food and new unwrapped toys in order help families in need during the holidays.
Numerous groups and organizations in the community also hold their own food and toy drives in order to help the cause.
Major Naomi Daley says people who want to help can also check out the Christmas tree in Walmart.
"There are Angel Tree tags on the Christmas tree at Walmart. They can buy a gift for any gender child or age of a child that they would like, they just take the tag off the tree and provide a gift for that child."
All gift donations have to be dropped off at the Salvation Army Church on Juliana Drive before December 15th.
Red kettles are also stationed at local businesses collecting monetary donations. If you would like to volunteer to man one of the kettles please call 519-539-6166.
Daley always loves to see communities band together for a great cause.
"We see it as kind of a twofold success. We're able to provide help to those who maybe wouldn't have much of a Christmas on their own, but also in terms of generating so much support from the community its fun to see."
