Woodstock City Council will discuss a potential pay raise for Acting Mayor Connie Lauder at this Thursday's meeting.
WOODSTOCK - Acting Mayor Connie Lauder's paycheque will be discussed at the next Woodstock City Council meeting.
Councillor Mark Schadenburg is planning to bring a motion forward, calling for Lauder to receive an extra $3,000 each month for the additional duties she has taken on as the Acting Mayor recently. The motion is retroactive to February 22nd and it's included in the council agenda, which you can find online here.
Lauder is a long-standing City Councillor and she was elected to the Acting Mayor position back in January. It's the Acting Mayor's job to step in whenever the Mayor is unable to fulfill his duties, and Lauder announced on February 24th that Mayor Trevor Birtch asked her to step in for him until further notice.
Mayor Birtch has avoided the public eye ever since assault charges against him started making headlines in early February. He has been charged with assault, sexual assault and sexual assault with choking and he has not released a statement on the matter.
