The Woodstock final tax rate features a 0.51% residential decrease, but some homeowners will still see an increase of around $35 per year.
WOODSTOCK - City Council has approved their final tax rate, which featured a 0.51% residential decrease. According to Mayor Trevor Birtch although the overall rate went down some home owners will see an increase.
"If your home went up in value, although we had a decrease, you will have a small increase in taxes of approximately $35 a year."
The increase will affect people with homes valued at $228,000.
The value of your home is determined based on an assessment conducted by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC). MPAC conducts property assessments every 4 years.
Council was able to approve the tax rate after reviewing the rates not only for the city, but also the county, and provincial education.
