The City of Woodstock will be looking to sell the former PUC building located at 16 Graham Street.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock City Council has agreed to offer 16 Graham Street for sale.
Woodstock Mayor Trevor Birtch says this is the former PUC building that the City owns that previously had Ontario Hydro as a tenant until recently.
"We are looking at making sure that we understand if there is any environment constraints, it is a large parcel in the downtown core and it is prime for redevelopment, council is looking for the highest best use of that space."
Birtch says the sale won't go to the highest bidder per say, it will go to who can make the best use of the space for the City.
"Businesses will be able to bid and let us know what kind of activity they want on that site, if they would utilize the existing space or if they would do a new construction, whether it is commercial or residential and then council will make a decision, not necessarily selling to the highest bidder but for helping improve the downtown core."
Council authorized $25,000 to the necessary studies to get the building sold.
