Habitat for Humanity hopes to get a bit of a boost for their community projects with a fundraiser celebrating the Beatles.
Habitat for Humanity is asking you to 'Come Together' for a fundraiser benefitting builds across the region.
The Jeans 'n Classics event returns to London to celebrate the Music of Abbey Road. The London Convention Centre will be hosting the classic rock symphony concert featuring the iconic music of the Beatles on September 19th. Tickets for the event are $55 and $69.
CEO of Habitat for Humanity Heartland, Jeff Duncan, says the proceeds from the event will go to helping Habitat with their projects. "Peter Brennan, who's the leader for Jeans 'n Classics, he says he wants build a house one brick at a time, from a Pink Floyd song. So he was behind us as well in trying to make it work. Our goal is just to take the money we make from this series and invest it into all the houses right across the entire region, so in the four counties we serve."
This is the third year for the series, and Duncan says they are really excited about the amount of seats being sold, and the excitment within the community.
The Oxford County builds will benefit from this concert, as will Heartland's other projects. Duncan says things are really looking up for the Woodstock build.
"Well Woodstock is really going along strong. They've got rough-ins done in the house, which means that some of the mechanical rough-ins and so on are done inside. And there's been great progress. The windows are on, the doors are in, that kind of thing, all the framing's done. So it's really, really making progress to that October sort of Thanksgiving occupancy that we're aiming for."
The Ingersoll build is also moving along well; they are just finalizing the details for the house there while the family puts in their sweat equity.
