Ministry of Labour investigation from 2012 incident leads to fines against Tillsonburg company.
TILLSONBURG -- A Tillsonburg greenhouse company was found guilty on three counts under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Back in June 2012, a worker was welding pieces of metal when his finger was caught in the pinch point of a brake press. As a result the man lost most of his finger.
The Ministy of Labour found the equipment was not up to standards and that two of the three operation methods were not working.
No one representing Erie Greenhouse Structures attended the trial. They were ordered to pay $73,000 in fines.
A supervisor has also been charged and it may go to trial in September.
