The Liberals will form government once again, which means Mark Carney will stay on as the Prime Minister. Several news outlets are reporting that its a minority government, but the Canadian Press says it's still too early to tell. Elections Canada has paused the counting of special ballots until later this morning, so we won't know for sure until later in the day.
Carney won his first seat in Parliament after securing the Ottawa riding of Nepean. Meanwhile, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre lost his seat to the Liberals in his nearby Carleton riding.
NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh also lost his Burnaby, British Columbia riding last night. He announced his plans to resign as party leader afterward, saying he'll step down once his party selects his replacement.
The Green Party leaders are split, with Elizabeth May winning her seat on Vancouver Island but Jonathan Pedneault losing in his Montreal riding.
