Construction projects in the County and information on road closure will be uploaded onto Waze and Municipal 511, which will help residents navigate the roads but also provide emergency responders with up-to-date information.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County is going to sharing County-led construction projects and road closure information with Municipal 511 and the two-way data sharing app Waze.
Ben Addley, Director and Chief of Paramedic Services for Oxford County Ben Addley says this is going to be a big help for EMS.
“Seconds can be critical for emergency responders. Prior to the implementation of Municipal 511 for road closures and construction, slower manual processes meant emergency crews could be unaware of construction or closures on their route. Now using Municipal 511, County closures will go directly into computers in each paramedic vehicle.”
Aside from helping residents and visitors navigate Oxford County roads more easily, the implementation with Municipal 511 will help to support community safety, by providing Oxford County’s emergency responders like fire, paramedic and police respond to calls more efficiently with up-to-date information on construction, closures and detours.
Emergency Coordinator for Oxford County Dave Colvin says this is going to make navigating the roads in Oxford County a lot easier.
“The two-way integration with Waze, and other data feeds into Municipal 511 provides the County a true picture of what is happening in our communities every day. This is especially critical during emergencies like snowstorms, ice storms, tornadoes and severe thunderstorms. Leveraging the Municipal 511 platform is a great opportunity for the municipalities of Oxford County to work together to improve efficiency, provide better service to our communities, and harness technology in a very cost effective fashion.”
While Oxford County is kicking off the platform use within the community for County-led construction projects and closures, other Oxford County municipalities have been provided access to the Municipal 511 system and will also adopt the system over the coming months.
