Woodstock city council voted unanimously in favour of a motion to do a departmental study of the fire department. Councillor Bill Bess requested the motion. The fire department budget is 7.1 million dollars. A lot of the budget is salaries which are negotiated by the province. Bess explained the motion "We are looking for some direction in ways to improve efficiencies and ways to reduce cost." Bess is hoping that council will have a better idea of the possibilities by the end of the year.
