Mount Elgin residents have until September 30th 2016 to connect to the new greywater wastewater system in the area.
MOUNT ELGIN - Oxford County council has approved revisions to the Grinder Pump Policy to include greywater systems that are being installed in Mount Elgin.
The policy changes will assist property owners in that area. Manager of Water Services Debra Goudreau tells Heart FM residents of Mount Elgin have until September 30th to connect to the new greywater wastewater system.
"Amending that policy to include another type of alternative collection system and we refer to them as step or stag and these are essentially modified septic tanks, really that instead of conveying sewage out to a private tile bed, they actually convey out to a municipal system."
Customers have already been billed for the first installment of this connection which was $6,000 in 2013 and they will get another bill for the $6,500 to finish the installment.
