Oxford County CAO Peter Crockett says the approved budget will mean a minimal impact to the average tax payer.
OXFORD COUNTY - After two months of budget deliberations, Oxford County Council settled on a more than 205 million dollar budget with a 2.2% increase to property taxes.
Around 52 million dollars will be collected in property tax levy which CAO Peter Crockett says will have a minimal effect on the average home owner, "the increase is right in around the value of the average assessed home in Oxford County from 2014 to 2015 you basically pay effectively what you paid last year for all of the services that Oxford County provides."
A quarter of the total operating budget will come from the property tax levy.
Additions to the budget included several grants for organizations such as Oxford Creative Connections, Social Planning Council Oxford, Tillsonburg Airport, Stratford Hospital and physician recruitment.
Details of the budget and presentations will be available on the County website, oxfordcounty.ca.
